Everything about hosting, joining and paying for Fun Friday, in one place.

The basics

What is Fun Friday?

Fun Friday (funfriday.work) is an online team building games platform for remote and hybrid teams. A host picks a game, shares a 6-character room code, and teammates join from any browser — no download and no facilitator needed. Games run live with synchronised timers, scoring and reveals. There are 23 games, from trivia and drawing to bluffing and word games — for example Trivia Blitz, Imposter, Emoji Story, Two Truths & a Lie, Caption This, Hot Takes.

Who is Fun Friday for?

Remote, hybrid and in-office teams who want a short, structured social activity: end-of-week catch-ups, icebreakers for new starters, team days, all-hands warm-ups and holiday parties. Managers, team leads, HR and people teams use it without needing to plan or run anything themselves.

What games can I play on Fun Friday?

Trivia Blitz, Imposter, Emoji Story, Two Truths & a Lie, Caption This, Hot Takes, Timeline, Drawing Blind, Bid & Bluff, Colour Clue, Majority Rules, Typing Sprint, Odd One Out, Guess Who Said It, Ballpark, Zoomed In, Plot Twist, Top Rank, Spin & Solve, Bluff Trivia, Code Clues, Where Am I?, Operation Defuse. Each game has its own page with how it plays, player counts and typical length.

Do I need a facilitator or any preparation?

No. The game explains its own rules, runs its own timers and keeps score, so whoever hosts just picks a game and shares the code. Questions, prompts and image packs are built in; you can add your own with custom packs.

Is Fun Friday an alternative to Kahoot, Jackbox or QuizBreaker?

Yes — people often use it that way. Unlike a quiz-only tool, it covers quiz, drawing, bluffing, opinion and storytelling games built for colleagues rather than classrooms. Unlike Jackbox, there is nothing to buy or install, and nobody has to stream a game window: every player uses their own browser.

Join a game

Do players need an account or a download?

Participants join with a room code and display name; no account or download is required. Hosts can use Free games without an account. Other games require a host account and the relevant access. Players who create a free account earn points every game towards a rank shield.

Can people play on their phone?

Yes. Players can join from any phone, tablet or laptop with a modern browser. Hosting a game is done from the web app.

How many people can play at once?

Most games start from 2 players. During beta, registered hosts can invite up to 30 players, including the host. Up to 100 players will be available after beta. Guest hosts without an account can have up to 8 players. Each game page lists its recommended group size.

How long does a game take?

Game duration varies by game, settings and group pace. Check the individual game page for its typical duration and allow extra time for joining and explaining the rules.

Does it work for a large group or a whole company?

Hosting a game

How do I host a team building game online?

Open funfriday.work/play, pick a game and share the room code in your chat or on screen. Keep your usual video call open for conversation — screen sharing is optional, because every player sees the game in their own browser. You control the pace and can start the next game in the same room when one ends.

Can I host without creating an account?

Yes. Guest hosts can run the free games (Trivia Blitz, Emoji Story, Two Truths & a Lie, Hot Takes) with up to 8 players and 2 sessions a week from one browser. A free account unlocks every game during beta and up to 30 players.

Can I add my own questions?

Yes. Custom packs let a team write its own Trivia Blitz questions, Imposter word lists, Emoji Story prompts and Where Am I? locations, so games can feature in-jokes, company history or onboarding facts. Custom packs come with the Pro plan, which every account has during beta.

What are good icebreaker games for work meetings?

Quick, low-pressure games where everyone contributes something small work best: Two Truths & a Lie, Hot Takes, Emoji Story and short trivia rounds. For something with no game at all, the free icebreaker question generator gives you a ready-made question by theme.

Does it work for hybrid or in-person teams?

Yes. Everyone plays on their own phone or laptop, wherever they are, so people in a meeting room and people at home are in the same game. Put the host’s screen on the room display if you like.

Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack and more

Which video call apps does Fun Friday work with?

All of them. Fun Friday runs in the browser beside your call, so it works with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Webex, Slack huddles and Discord — share the room code in the chat and play.

How do I play games on Microsoft Teams?

Start a game at funfriday.work/play, paste the room code or link into the Teams meeting chat, and everyone joins from their browser while staying on the call. No Teams app or admin approval is needed.

Is there a Fun Friday app for Zoom?

Does Fun Friday work inside Google Meet?

Yes. The Fun Friday add-on for Google Meet runs games in the meeting’s side panel and main stage, and the same Google Workspace add-on adds a /funfriday command to Google Chat.

Can I start a game from Slack or Discord?

Yes. Once connected, type /funfriday in a Slack channel or Discord server to open a room and post the code for everyone. A team owner connects Slack from team settings; Discord has its own install page.

Can an AI assistant set up a game for me?

Yes. Fun Friday has an MCP server that assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can connect to. A connected assistant can find a game, open a room for you and report results once you grant it hosting permission. It cannot play games on anyone’s behalf.

Security, privacy and IT

Will Fun Friday be blocked by my company firewall?

It is designed not to be. Fun Friday runs on funfriday.work — a .work domain chosen so corporate proxies do not classify it as a gaming site — over standard HTTPS in any modern browser, with nothing to install. If your network still blocks it, ask IT to allow funfriday.work.

Is Fun Friday GDPR compliant, and where is data stored?

Fun Friday is run under UK GDPR. The database and authentication are hosted in the EU, product analytics (EU-hosted) are off unless you accept them, and you can delete your account and its data at any time. Guests only give a display name.

Privacy policy

Is Fun Friday secure?

Yes. All traffic is encrypted, every database table is protected by row-level security, answers are scored on the server so nobody can cheat by inspecting the page, and security issues can be reported through a published disclosure policy.

Security

Is the content appropriate for work?

Yes. Built-in questions and prompts are written for colleagues, and player, team and pack names are filtered for profanity. The host controls which games and packs are played.
