Before you host
Free in beta · host account required. During beta, accounts receive Pro access free: up to 30 players and unlimited sessions. No payment card is required. Guest hosts use the Free game list, up to 8 players and 2 sessions per week on this browser. The engine requires at least 3 players to start this game. Recommended group sizes describe the experience, not a plan entitlement; the host’s plan sets the room limit, including the host.
Participants join with a room code and display name; no account or download is required. Hosts can use Free games without an account. Other games require a host account and the relevant access.
Play in a current browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. A larger screen helps with images and matching. Use your usual video or voice call to talk; Fun Friday does not include a call. Everyone plays on their own device. Screen sharing is optional; keep private answers and roles off a shared screen.
The hosting button opens setup with Plot Twist selected. Enter a display name or sign in if needed, then choose Create room. Invite colleagues with the link or code, check the settings and press Start when the group is ready. Opening setup creates no room.

Stories are built one sentence at a time, and each writer sees only the line immediately before theirs. The result reliably goes somewhere nobody intended.
The payoff is the reveal, when the full stories are read back and voted on. It needs a smaller room than most games here — above about 12 the stories get too long to enjoy.
How to play Plot Twist online

Everyone opens a story on the same theme, then the stories rotate — and each writer sees only the sentence immediately before theirs:
- “an office heist that goes wrong”
- “the last biscuit in the tin”
- “a wizard starting a new job”
- “a mysterious package delivered to the wrong address”
- “the day the internet went out forever”
When to run Plot Twist
A small creative team, three to twelve people
Each pass adds a sentence to every story, so a big room produces stories too long to read back. Twelve is a real ceiling rather than a soft one.
A team that writes for a living
Marketing, content and design teams treat the constraint as a challenge rather than an obstacle, and the voting at the end gets genuinely competitive.
When you want a payoff rather than a leaderboard
The reveal is the game. Three passes of tonal whiplash read back to the room lands better than any score does.
