What is Timeline?
A handful of events appear and the team has to drag them into chronological order. Scoring is by how close your ordering is, not all-or-nothing, so a near-miss still earns something.
It plays unusually well across a mixed-age team, because the events span decades and nobody has an even spread of knowledge. The person who nails the 1970s is rarely the person who nails the 2010s.
How to play Timeline online

Example events
Events span science, culture, politics and technology across roughly 150 years, so no single generation has the advantage:
- First telephone call, Alexander Graham Bell — 1876
- First powered aeroplane flight, the Wright brothers — 1903
- First television demonstration — 1926
- DNA’s double helix structure discovered — 1953
- First human in space, Yuri Gagarin — 1961
When to run Timeline
A team with a wide age range
The person who nails the 1970s is almost never the person who nails the 2010s. Everyone contributes a decade, and the argument about who was right is most of the fun.
When you want knowledge to matter but not decide it
Scoring is by how close your ordering is, not all-or-nothing, so a near miss still banks most of the points. Nobody finishes a round with zero.
A ten-minute opener before a longer game
It is quick, quiet and needs no explanation, which makes it a good warm-up before something louder like Drawing Blind or Code Clues.
Timeline questions
Do players need an account or a download?
No. Only the host needs a Fun Friday account. Everyone else joins from any browser with a 6-character room code and a display name — no app, no install, no IT ticket.
Do you have to get the whole order right to score?
No. Scoring measures how close your sequence is to the correct one, so getting most of it right still earns most of the points.
