What is Pin Drop?

Everyone lands in the same street-level view and can look around it freely — spin the camera, read the signs, work out which side of the road the cars are on. Then you drop a pin on the world map, and the score is how close you got.

It is the game that gets the quiet people talking, because everyone has one region they somehow know cold. The reveal is the good bit: every pin appears on the map at once, so you can all see who was one street away and who confidently picked the wrong continent.

Pin Drop questions

Do players need an account or a download?

No. Only the host needs a Fun Friday account. Everyone else joins from any browser with a 6-character room code and a display name — no app, no install, no IT ticket.

Do you need to know geography to enjoy it?

No. The scoring rewards getting closer, not getting it exactly right, so picking the correct country still scores well even if you have no idea which town it is. Most rounds are won by someone spotting a road sign or a postbox, not by knowing the map.

Where does the imagery come from?

Mapillary, a community-contributed street-level imagery service. Photographers around the world publish their imagery there under an open licence, which is why the coverage is broad but a little more unpredictable than a commercial mapping product — a fair trade for a game.
